Final Results – January 8, 2010

Congratulations again to Rory McPeek for winning this year’s Bowl Pool.  Rory was the only one to pick all 5 BCS games correctly (including 3 upsets), and that lead to the victory.  With Alabama’s win last night, the final results are:

1st Place: Rory McPeek – 24 points

2nd Place: Jeff Parker – 22 points

3rd Place: Dave Sosidka – 21 points

And bringing up the rear in last place…. Me (I say it is just as hard to get them all wrong as it is to get them all right)

January 6, 2010 Update – We have a winner!

Congratulations to Rory McPeek, who clinched first place in the pool with Iowa’s win last night!  Rory was the only entry to get all four BCS games correct.

Thursday night’s BCS Championship Game will determine 2nd and 3rd place:

If Alabama wins, Jeff Parker will claim 2nd place and Dave Sosidka will claim 3rd place.

If Texas wins and the total points scored is 46 or more, Jeff Parker will finish in 2nd place and Julie Hank will finish in 3rd place.

If Texas wins and the total points scored is 45 or less, Julie Hank will claim 2nd place and Jeff Parker will claim 3rd place.

An amazing 14 of the 24 games have been won by the underdog.  The average score is currently only 13.85 out of 28, which means that most entries would have been better off picking random numbers! (I know my picks surely would’ve been better using that strategy)

January 4, 2010 Update

The win last night by Boise State prevented Jeff Parker from clinching first place, and also eliminated 7 more entries from the top 3.  Rory McPeek joined Jeff Parker atop the standings with 20 points.  In addition to those two, the following entries are still in the running for the top 3:  Julie Hank, Francis Martin, and Dave Sosidka.  Here are the scenarios:

If Georgia Tech and Alabama win:

1st place – Jeff Parker, 2nd place – tie between Francis Martin and Rory McPeek (same tiebreaker score)

If Georgia Tech and Texas win:

1st place – tie between Jeff Parker (tiebreaker 50.5)  and Julie Hank (tiebreaker 41), 3rd place – tie between Francis Martin and Rory McPeek (same tiebreaker score)

If Iowa and Alabama win:

1st place – Rory McPeek, 2nd place – Jeff Parker, 3rd place – Dave Sosidka

If Iowa and Texas win:

1st place – Rory McPeek, 2nd place –  tie between Jeff Parker (tiebreaker 50.5)  and Julie Hank (tiebreaker 41)

January 3, 2010 Update

Jeff Parker continues to lead the pool with 20 points.  He can clinch first place if TCU wins Monday night.

A Boise State win on Monday night would open the door for Rory McPeek.  Rory would also need an Iowa win on Tuesday to overtake Jeff for first place.  Julie Hank also has an outside shot at first place.  Julie would need wins from Boise, Georgia Tech, and Texas to climb into a tiebreaker with Jeff for first place.

Several entries are still alive for 2nd and 3rd place, including Francis Martin, John Treadway, Dave Sosidka, Lowell Snare, Mike Gleason, Nellie Greer, Tom Magilton, Louis Taborelli, and Carmella Mattes.
