January 1, 2013 Update – Happy New Year!

After correctly picking 3 of 4 games yesterday, including big upsets by Georgia Tech and Clemson, Drew Harclerode continues to lead the Bowl Pool with 14 of 16 correct. A lot of points are on the table today, as there are 6 games – including two BCS games, which are worth 2 points each. So today’s results will separate the contenders from the pretenders. To put things in perspective how difficult the picks have been this year, the average score is only 8.1 out of 16 – barely over half correct. Click below to see the latest results.

Final Results! – January 10, 2012 Update

Congratulations to Mark Lemon for winning this year’s bowl pool!

Mark was the only entry to pick all 5 BCS games correctly, and the low-scoring Alabama victory (21-0 over LSU) allowed him to win the pool with 24 of 30 points and the closest tiebreaker.

Mike Geffel claimed 2nd place.  He also scored 24 points, but predicted a higher scoring final game than Mark.

Raj Basavaraju will get his money back for finishing last.  Raj was the only entry to pick all 5 BCS games wrong – which is just as hard as picking them all right…

Thanks to everyone for playing!

January 5, 2012 – 8am Update

Mike Geffel has solidified his lead in the pool after West Virginia’s surprising blowout win last night, 70-33 over Clemson.  If LSU wins the National Championship, he will win the pool.

Mark Lemon moved up to 2nd place after WVU’s win, and can tie Mike with an Alabama win in the National Championship Game.  In that scenario, 1st and 2nd place between Mark and Mike would be determined by the closest tiebreaker score.

Jason Edelen and Jim Burnett are currently tied for 3rd place.  With an LSU win, they would pass Mark for 2nd place.  In that scenario, 2nd place between Jason and Jim would be determined by the closest tiebreaker score.

Raj Basavaraju has clinched last place, and will get his money back.

The final game is on Monday, January 9th.

January 4, 2012 – 10am Update

With Michigan’s 23-20 overtime win over Virginia Tech last night, Mike Geffel has emerged as the leader with 22 points.  Only two games remain in the pool.  Here are the possible scenarios:

If West Virginia and LSU win…

  • Mike Geffel would win the pool with 26 points
  • Jason Edelen and Jim Burnett would tie for 2nd place, with 2nd place determined by the tiebreaker score
  • Raj Basavaraju would get his money back for finishing last

If West Virginia and Alabama win…

  • Mike Geffel and Mark Lemon would be tied for 1st with 24 points
  • 1st and 2nd place would be determined by the tiebreaker score
  • Raj Basavaraju would get his money back for finishing last

If Clemson and LSU win…

  • Jason Edelen and Jim Burnett would be tied for 1st with 25 points
  • 1st and 2nd place would be determined by the tiebreaker score
  • Micki Schwartz, Sherryl Snare, and Soni Patangay would tie for last.  Furthest tiebreaker score would finish officially in last place.

If Clemson and Alabama win…

  • Fred Heffner would win the pool with 24 points
  • Jason Edelen, Jim Burnett, Tony Chan, and Nancy Heffner would tie for 2nd place, with 2nd place determined by the tiebreaker score
  • Micki Schwartz would get his money back for finishing last
